Juan F. Sequeda is the Principal Scientist at data.world, joining through the acquisition of Capsenta, a company he founded from his research. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin. Juan is a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and has received numerous awards, including 2nd Place in the 2013 Semantic Web Challenge, Best Student Research Paper at the 2014 International Semantic Web Conference, and the 2015 Best Transfer and Innovation Project. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Web Semantics, Advisory Board of Patterns Journal, and is an active member of various program committees. Juan bridges academia and industry, currently chairing the Property Graph Schema Working Group of the Linked Data Benchmark Council (LDBC). His research focuses on creating knowledge from inscrutable data, specializing in ontology-based data integration and semantic/graph data management. In business, Juan excels in strategy, technical sales, and customer relations, translating problems into R&D solutions.
